At Sourcing Nepal, ethical sourcing isn’t a marketing line — it’s how we operate every day. From the artisan workshops of Kathmandu Valley to the herb farms of the Himalayan foothills, every product we export carries the livelihood of a Nepali family with it. As a proud contributor to the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, we’ve aligned our business practices with 8 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that reflect where we can create the most meaningful, measurable impact.
Our Commitments
Good Health and Well-Being
Fair, dignified work is foundational to good health. Every vendor in our network is vetted through our Sustainable, Ethical Sourcing & Compliance process, which checks for safe working conditions, reasonable hours, and access to basic worker welfare — backed by SMETA, Sedex, and HACCP audits. Where our products are food, herbs, or wellness items, our Quality Control and Product Testing ensures nothing reaches a customer that could compromise their health.
No Poverty
We work directly with 50+ verified vendors and 500+ local artisans across Nepal, cutting out exploitative middlemen and ensuring fair, consistent income reaches the people who make our products. Every order placed through Sourcing Nepal puts money directly into rural and semi-urban Nepali households.
Quality Education
We support artisan communities where craft skills are passed down through structured apprenticeship and training, not left to chance. By creating consistent export demand, we help vendors reinvest in training their workers and, in many partner communities, in their children’s schooling — turning steady trade income into long-term educational opportunity.
Gender Equality
A large share of our artisan network — particularly in our felt handicraft and textile lines — is made up of women artisans. We champion women-led production groups and cooperatives, giving women fair pay, flexible work, and a direct stake in the export economy.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Through our Supplier Verification and Sustainable, Ethical Sourcing & Compliance services, we vet every vendor for fair labor practices, safe working conditions, and legal compliance. Growth for our clients should never come at the cost of a worker’s dignity — so we build long-term vendor relationships that create stable, recurring work rather than one-off orders.
Responsible Consumption and Production
From Lokta paper and hemp textiles to organic herbs, spices, and essential oils, we prioritize natural, biodegradable, and sustainably harvested raw materials. Our Quality Control and Product Testing processes ensure nothing is wasted, mislabeled, or over-produced, and our certifications (ISO, GMP, FSC) hold our supply chain to internationally recognized standards.
Life on Land
Many of our signature products — Himalayan herbs, Sichuan pepper (timur), black cardamom, moringa, and wild-harvested botanicals — depend on healthy forests and farmland. We work with vendors who follow sustainable harvesting practices that protect Nepal’s biodiversity for future seasons, rather than depleting it for short-term yield.
